Laval W. Belle, of Noah’s Ark Publishing had a vision for a community “Read and Feed Drive Thru” to share and promote a wonderful children’s book, entitled Kids Journal Through COVID-19: United Kids Speak.  Other Co-hosts are the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), YWCA Greater Los Angeles, the LAFC Foundation, and Ward Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).   For 1,500 kids and their families the interactive book, a chance to wave at 2 local youth authors – Gerber Rodriguez and King Peoples, and receive a box of non-perishable items will bring joy to the volunteers who will serve the families as a way to help preserve Monday, January 18th as a day of service.

This interactive journal is a collection of 50 essays written by 50 youth, that is designed to strengthen students’ reading and writing skills, and foster an emotionally healthy, creative outlet during this historic health crisis.

Food boxes will be donated by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank that include an assortment of non-perishable food items. Also included will be a gift bag with COVID-19 educational resources, coronavirus testing information and additional information about services provided by the co-sponsors and other community services.

This is a safe “Grab & Go” Drive up event only! Absolutely no walk-ups allowed, and everyone must be and remain in a vehicle. One food box and one book per registration. Must show proof of registration upon arrival.   Those interested in registering for the Read and Feed Drive-Through can call 213-747-1188.
