Kimberly Brown, managing director at Cushman & Wakefield, will join industry veteran Troy Jenkins and Avison Young, principal and director of Investment Management, as the leadership team guiding the African American Real Estate Professionals Los Angeles.

The change occurred as a result of the untimely passing of William “Bill” Yarbro, AAREP LA president.

The organization also welcomed executive and advisory board members Jamie Brooks, senior vice president at CBRE; and Ben Green, managing director of Western Region Asset Management at Barings Real Estate.

The all-volunteer board of directors serves as the governing body for AAREP LA. The board provides strategic direction, sets policy, and provides governance oversight for the growing 750 member organization.  Sponsors include Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE, JLL, Eastdil Secured, Barings Real Estate, Brookfield Properties, Primestor Development, OneUnited Bank,  Avanath Capital Management and Langdon Park Capital.

Returning to the board of directors, Green leads a national team of office asset managers responsible for Barings' U.S. office portfolio. He establishes best practices and collaborates with regional teams on office asset performance, leasing strategy, ESG, and PropTech, while also participating in office acquisition underwriting and due diligence.

Since joining the firm in 2002, Green’s direct asset management responsibilities have included office, multi-family, retail, and industrial properties in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego.

Prior to Barings, Green started his career with JLL Capital Markets and is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

Brooks is a senior vice president with CBRE with 18 years of commercial real estate experience and over $1 billion in gross lease/sale value consideration. His proven in-market knowledge, financial expertise, and store placement success makes him an invaluable asset to the company, and uniquely positions him to assist clients through the entire real estate process.

A vital element of Jamie’s success is his commitment to representing occupiers, owners, developers, and government institutions in historically underserved and ethnically diverse submarkets throughout Southern California.   Long before other corporate real estate firms recognized the relevance of these trade areas, Jamie developed a dominant presence in these communities and has since been credited with negotiating some of the most significant lease and sale transactions in the region, providing lasting and measurable impact through local job creation, elimination of blight, tax revenue increases, and awareness within the industry that real economic opportunities exist in these previously ignored trade areas.

Brooks is a graduate of Occidental College and currently resides in the South Bay Region of Los Angeles County with his wife and two children.
